The Savoy

London, United Kingdom · Historic hotel on the Thames

Founded in 1889 beside the Savoy Theatre, which gave it its name, it still stands on the Thames, on The Strand, between Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden.

Atmosphere

A Grade II listed building with two decorative languages: Edwardian and Art Deco. The renovation of its rooms, by G.A Group and unveiled in 2025, reinterprets both styles with new palettes, textures and bespoke furniture, and will continue in phases through 2027.

Location

The Strand, London WC2R 0EZ, on the private street of Savoy Court, on the banks of the Thames and close to Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden.

Rooms

263 rooms and suites, 162 of them Edwardian. The Edwardian rooms play with greys, tangerine, ivory silk and antique brass, and some face the Thames; the Art Deco rooms, on The Strand side, are dressed in gold and caramel tones with marble bathrooms. Categories range from the Superior Queen (27 m²) to the Royal Suite (264 m²), with butler service in the River View suites.

Dining

Gallery, with all-day British cooking and an afternoon tea featuring more than 30 teas; Savoy Grill, Restaurant 1890 and River Restaurant, all three by Gordon Ramsay; the American Bar, for classic cocktails; Beaufort Wine Bar, with more than 250 wines from 18 countries; and Scoff, the scone shop.

Experiences

A spa with a daylit atrium, pool, sauna, steam room and a gym open 24 hours, plus an afternoon tea that is part of the house ritual.
