Maroma

A retreat between jungle and beach on the Mexican Caribbean, beside one of the largest coral reefs in the world.

Atmosphere

Redesigned in 2023 by interior designer Tara Bernerd, with Mexican materials and textiles. The spaces follow a geometry inspired by the Maya master builders, and the rooms were crafted by local artisans. According to the hotel itself, it was the first in the area, built by a Mexican architect.

Location

Cancún–Tulum highway, km 51, Quintana Roo. About 30 minutes from Cancún airport, 20 from Playa del Carmen, an hour from Tulum and two and a half hours from Chichén Itzá.

Rooms

19 rooms, 50 suites and 3 villas. From Deluxe Rooms (39–41 m²) and Junior Suites to Oceanfront Suites (77–87 m²) and the Signature Suites and Villas, which range from 85 to 308 m² and sleep up to 10 guests.

Dining

Casa Mayor, with contemporary and regional Mexican cooking built on local produce; Woodend by Curtis Stone, an open-fire grill; Bambuco, for creative cocktails; and Freddy's Beach Bar, right on the sand.

Experiences

Maroma Spa by Guerlain, the brand's first spa in Latin America, with treatments that blend Maya traditions and native ingredients; a temazcal, three pools, cenote and reef exploration, jungle gardens and a Kid's Club.
