A private island in Palawan: how to reach Amanpulo
The journey is part of the trip: a car, a private lounge and ninety minutes on a turboprop over the Cuyo archipelago.
Amanpulo occupies Pamalican Island, in northern Palawan, and no road leads to it. The journey begins at Clark airport, north of Manila, where guests are driven to the resort's private lounge and hangar.
From there a direct flight departs on a twin turboprop with 12 seats, about 90 minutes each way, to the island's airstrip. On landing, what follows is white sand, reefs and calm water.
Once there, the island is explored from casitas tucked into the forest or set on the beach. There are five places to dine — The Lagoon Club, Beach Club, The Picnic Grove, The Clubhouse and Destination Dining — and a floating bar, the Kawayan Bar. Activities include kitesurfing, diving, snorkeling, fishing and an excursion to Manamoc Island.
To plan: the trip combines international flights to Manila or Clark with the turboprop leg, so it is worth thinking about your nights on the island together with your arrival and departure connections.
